Abstract
Surgical specimens standardized management is the important content referring to medical quality and patient safety. The commonest issue is the specimen identification errors in the surgical specimen management. This review analyzed the main causes of specimen identification errors including poor communication between doctors and nurses, lack of related knowledge and training by literature search. This review also put forward improvements, such as carrying out the computerized pathological specimen submission system, enhancing staff training, building standardized strict operation procedure and updating as well as optimizing timely, to really improve medical quality in technology and system among medical staff in operating room.
