Research progress on effects of regulated deficit irrigation on seeds-production maize under mulched drip irrigation in Hexi Oasis

Abstract

The content of water resources affects the development of agriculture, ecology and economy. It is an inevitable requirement for sustainable development of society to realize the efficient utilization of water resources under the constraint of total amount. In our country, agricultural water resources are very limited and the water use efficiency is not high. Therefore, it is particularly important to pursue the efficient utilization of irrigation water resources for agricultural water with a large water consumption ratio. In order to realize the efficient utilization of irrigation water resources in Hexi Oasis area and further improve the economic benefits on seeds-production maize, this paper firstly introduced the research progress of regulated deficit irrigation under mulched drip irrigation, and then summarized the effects of regulated deficit irrigation under mulched drip irrigation on the growth, yield, quality and water use of seeds-production maize. The results showed that moderate water deficit at different growth stages on seeds-production maize could not only guarantee maize yield, but also improve grain quality, and significantly increase water use efficiency. Finally, the problems existing in the planting on seeds-production maize were analyzed, and the future research direction was prospected.
