Abstract

Acute fatty liver of pregnancy (AFLP) characterized by maternal blood coagulation dysfunction, liver failure, and obvious liver fatty infiltration in late pregnancy, is one of the main causes of maternal and fetal mortality. Its mechanism is still not definite. Fetal loss of long chain 3 - hydroxy acyl coenzyme dehydrogenase (LCHAD) and pregnancy hormone level change are considered to be the main pathogenesis at present. By relying mainly on Swance standard to diagnose, but it lacks of specificity. This review will expound the pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of acute fatty liver of pregnancy.
