Abstract

The hydrogenation of vegetable oil can increase the oxidation stability and shelf life of hydrogenated oils, which is a common industrial method to change the chemical and physical properties of oil. Meanwhile, it is an important catalytic process in oils and fats industry. In this article, from the aspects of catalyst types and hydrogenation reaction mechanism, the research progress of vegetable oil hydrogenation catalysts are reviewed, and the new hydrogenation catalysts and processes are summarized. At the end, some insights of the hydrogenation catalyst improving and the development of the process are suggested.
