Abstract

The cold lateral condensation technique and continuous wave condensation technique are the most commonly used root canal obturation techniques. In recent years, with the emergence of Ni-Ti matched-taper gutta-percha cone and improvement of the root canal sealer properties, single-cone obturation technique gradually applied in dental clinic. Single-cone techniques is considered as a method that is less operator-dependent and less damaging. After complete endodontic management, the function and appearance of residual root and crown with large defect can be restored by post-crown restoration. Post preparation has influence on the root canal sealing ability that influence the long-term effect of the tooth. Immediate post preparation has considerable advantages in terms of sealing ability when compared with the traditional delayed post preparation. This article summarized the features of single-cone technique and advantages of immediate post preparation, further came up with the idea of immediate post preparation following single-cone obturation and introduced its research advance.
