Abstract

Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(NRDS)is one of the most common critical illnesses in the neonatal period, characterized by respiratory distress and progressive exacerbation soon after birth.Recent studies have shown that the level of carnitine in preterm infants with NRDS is low, which may be associated with NRDS.This review summarizes the relationship between the occurrence of NRDS and the level of free carnitine in preterm infants, aiming to improve the understanding of carnitine levels with the pathogenesis of NRDS, and provide ideas for further clinical research and delaying the development of NRDS and improving prognosis. Key words: Carnitine; Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome; Preterm infant
