Research progress of phosphoinositide 3-kinase signaling pathways in respiratory diseases

Abstract

In the past decades,scientists have made lots of progress in the deep understanding of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) signaling.Many specific inhibitors of PI3K signaling have been found,and some studies have been proved to have effects in the therapy of respiratory diseases.Here,we introduce the isoforms of PI3Ks firstly,and focus on the assessment of each isoform as a drug discovery target in respiratory diseases.The application of PI3Kα inhibition in the treatment of lung cancer,PI3Kβ inhibitors in pulmonary arterial hypertension,PI3Kδ and PI3Kγ inhibitors in airway inflammatory diseases are well studied.We also discuss the future of PI3K inhibitors in respiratory disease.
