Abstract

This review summaries the research progress of acupoint therapy applied to essential hypertension. The application of acupoint therapy to essential hypertension can be featured as favorable maneuverability, curative effect, symptoms improving, safety, and other characteristics. Currently, the most common therapies are acupuncture, acupoint massage, acupoint sticking, acupoint catgut embedding, auricular plaster, erjian bloodletting, combination therapy and others involved in general acupoint selection or local acupoint selection, evaluated clinically by blood pressure monitoring, hypertension symptom score and some biochemical indices.
