Abstract

Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a genetic eye disease characterized by primary dystrophic degenerative lesions of photoreceptor cells and retinal pigment epithelium. Although there are many treatment methods, there is still a lack of effective methods to restore visual acuity and visual field. Traditional Chinese medicine ophthalmologists have been conducting extensive clinical research on retinitis pigmentosa for a long time and have achieved significant progress. The paper is a summary of the progress of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa in the last five years.
