Abstract
With the constant improvement and development, percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar discectomy (PELD) has been increasingly used in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) . Compared to the conventional surgeries, the more recently introduced PELD has significant advantages including minimal invasion, small incision of 6-8 mm, and low cost. It also effectively reduced the incidence of postoperative lower back pain. Considering that PELD has not been introduced to China until recently, this paper reviews the application of PELD in the treatment of LDH. Key words: Percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar discectomy; Lumbar disc herniation; Minimally invasive treatment
