Abstract

High power klystron is a very important microwave Vacuum device with high peak and average power, high gain and efficiency, high stability and long life time. It has wide application in many microwave electronic systems such as modern radar and communication system, particle accelerator TV broadcast, fusion plasma heating and industrial heating system: and also future beam energy weapon. Research progress on the theory, design and calculation of the interaction section and electron optics of klystron in Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Science (IECAS) are presented in the paper. Technical advances on key parts of klystron are briefly given out. Typical high power klystron, broadband klystron and multi-beam klystron developed in IECAS will be described in the paper.
