Abstract

The new version of safety regulation (EU) 2019/2144 was officially published in December 2019. The research object of this paper is a certain type N1 truck facing the EU market. In order to deal with the impact of this regulation on the development of vehicle models, the compliance analysis of vehicle models was carried out first, this vehicle cannot meet the requirements of ECER137 and ECER94. In view of the above two laws and regulations that fail to meet the requirements, the energy absorption length, material and collision force transmission path of the front longitudinal beam are optimized to ensure the smooth passage of the new car model through the EU laws and regulations. In order to further improve the safety performance and market competitiveness of the product, the design and development of airbag are also completed. The development method and strategy of passive safety performance in this project have accumulated experience for the development of similar models for the European market.
