Abstract

With the traffic in the terminal area of China is increasing, the airspace resources are becoming increasingly tight. The original approach procedures can no longer meet the country’s airport approach requirements. In recent years, China has begun to introduce Point Merge System (PMS). As a brand-new approach procedure, there are still many aspects for further improvement. At present, PMS have been successfully applied to 25 airports in 17 countries around the world. However, due to the difference in traffic flow of each airport, the single merge point procedures cannot handle the different traffic flow. Therefore, this paper is designed to conduct trajectory optimization research based on multiple merge points under different traffic conditions. Combining with the cases of domestic application of PMS, author plans to research the feasibility of trajectory optimization based on multi-merge point program according to obstacles, airspace environment, flight procedure design standards and control requirements at different airports.
