Abstract
Objective To investigate the possible occurrence of thyroid dysfunction and changes of sexual hormone level in human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infected females,and to observe the correlation between changes of thyroid hormone and sexual hormone.Methods thyroid hormone and sexual hormone ofpatients were determined by radioimmunoassay and the correlation between them was tested.Results As many as 34% of the patients had one or more changes in thyroid hormone and 19%of the patients had the occurrence of subclinical hypothyroidism.There were significant changes in T,E2,P,PRL(P＜0.05)and the patients with thyroid hormone changes had more obvious decrease in T level(P＜0.05).Conclusion Thyroid hormone disorders and sexual hormone disorders exist in HIV infected female patients.HIV infected females with thyroid hormone disorders showed more significant changes in sexual hormone leveL Key words: Human immunodeficieney virus; Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome; Thyroid; Sexual hormone
