Abstract

Concrete face rock fill dam (CFRD) is widely used in hydropower construction. There are many certainty and uncertainty factors involved in its construction process. Hence, computer simulation technology was applied to study it. Based on the analysis of CFRD construction system, firstly the system was divided into three sub-systems: material allocating, transporting and dam filling to establish the simulation system. Secondly the earth-rocks were allocated according to dam construction schedule. Then the allocation results were applied in transporting system and dam filling system to simulate the construction process, from which the duration, road intensity, machine configuration and utilization were obtained, which can be demonstrated by tables and graphics. Finally, simulation results were illustrated by three-dimensional (3D) visual technology.
