Abstract

The close-following behavior on the expressway greatly increases the risk of rear-end collisions. Therefore, the traffic police department has developed an electronic police system for capturing the illegal distance between vehicles. However, because this system is the latest scientific and technological invention, metrology department in China has not yet developed the corresponding measuring and testing equipment, which will make China lack the technical support for measuring and testing of the electronic police system for capturing the illegal distance between vehicles. This will lead to certain obstacles in the process of law enforcement by the traffic police department. In order to solve this problem, this study developed a laser device, which can accurately verify the accuracy of the electronic police system for capturing the illegal distance between vehicles. Specifically, the laser distance measuring device is used to measure the distance value between vehicles, a speedometer is used to obtain the real-time speed of the vehicle, and a GNSS device is used to obtain the real-time time. When the test vehicle passes the electronic police system, the photo of the capture system will display the vehicle distance, speed and time information on the LED screen, and compare it with the distance and speed detected by the capture system itself. The development of the verification equipment of the electronic police system for capturing the illegal distance between vehicles provides a reliable law enforcement basis for police traffic law enforcement, and can promote drivers to develop a good awareness of keeping the distance between vehicles and provide guarantees for people's driving safety.
