Abstract

We proposed the passive MPPT method in 2013 for the MPPT problem of small-scale off-grid wind power generator systems. This novel method allows the proposed wind power generator system to automatically track the maximum power points that correspond to different wind speeds without the need of any algorithms or electrical control devices. The proposed system based on the passive MPPT method eliminates hundreds of electronic control components, thereby being remarkably conducive to high reliability for outdoor use. This paper focuses on the saturation characteristic and dynamic MPPT performance of the proposed system. Simulation and experiment validated the analysis.
