Abstract

Objectives To discuss and analyze relationship between sperm morphology and clinical significance of sperm DNA damage and related parameters in male infertility. Methods 104 infertile male patients who visited in our hospital from January 2013 to January 2015 were collected.(They all had normal sexual life with their wives without contraceptive measures more than a year , but failed to make them pregnant). All patients were divided into control group, less sperm group, weak sperm group and obstructed no sperm (OA) group according to the results of semen analysis. The sperm DNA integrity was analyzed by the sperm chromatin diffusion experiment (SCD) and sperm morphology was measured by Diff - Quik dyeing. Results Statistical analysis showed that the DFI of weak sperm group and OA group compared with those of control group and less sperm group had statistically significant difference (P 0.05), the other groups all had statistically significance (P<0.05). DFI had a positive relationship with rate of deformity sperm (r=0.622, P<0.01), and there was an obvious positive correlation between DFI and rate of deformity sperm head (r=0.796, P<0.01 ). Conclusions DFI of weak sperm group and OA group are obviously higher than those of less sperm group and the control group. Rate of normal sperm morphology in patients with abnormal semen routine are lower than that of the control group. DFI may be lead to abnormal sperm morphology, especially one of the main reasons for abnormal sperm head. Key words: Infertility, Male; Spermatozoa; DNA
