Abstract

Objective To provide evidence for cultivating caring ability of nursing students by exploring the cognition of undergraduate nursing students on caring behaviors and its related factors.Methods Caring Dimensions Inventory (CDI) was used to investigate 157 participants of three grades in a nursing school.Results The score of professional and technical aspect was higher. Students in grade 2 scored higher than other grades,the difference was statistically significant(F=4.679,P<0.05). For the nursing students, a positive correlation was showed between the agreements with importance of nursing caring behaviors, interest in nursing curriculum and the cognition of caring behaviors (P<0.05).The scores of caring behaviors of undergraduate nursing students were siatistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions The cognition level of caring behaviors of undergraduate nursing students should be improved by strengthening the education on humanistic caring and promoting the understanding of nursing caring.
