Abstract

We research the Aziz model [J. Appl. Phys. 53, 1158 (1982); Mater. Sci. Eng. 98, 369 (1988)] for solute redistribution and extend it based on the fact that the detailed balance does not hold if a system is far from equilibrium. In addition, comparison is made with the Aziz model; the discussion on physical variables used in the Aziz model is undertaken. Since the detailed balance has broken down, the interface velocity predicted in our communication at which the solute trapping occurs is greater than that in the Aziz model.
