Abstract

Taking 11 provinces in central and western regions of China as the research object, this paper constructs TOPSIS index comprehensive evaluation system based on entropy weight method from five aspects of economic aggregate, economic structure, economic vitality, development potential and people's living standard of each province. The results show that there are inequality and imbalance in the economic development of the central and western regions. On the whole, the comprehensive economic development level of the provinces in central of China is more advantageous than that of the western regions. However, in terms of development prospect, both the central and western regions have certain economic potential and further development space that can be deeply developed.
