Abstract

The purpose of this study is to check the knowledge of the judo terminology and judo etiquette of children from 7 to 10 years of age, practicing judo in different sports clubs in Bulgaria. The clubs where the survey is conducted are selected by several indicators:- The coaches of the judo work on the Dan-Kyu system (technical degree in judo) for preparation and promotion;- The coaches work with children aged 7 to 10 years.- There is consent of the parents to conduct the study with the children.Using the method of inquiry and interview, a study was conducted with children practicing judo in five sports clubs at Sofia and two of the province. Two main problems have been investigated:- Knowledge of Judo terminology and its use;- Knowledge of the judo etiquette and its application. The results of the survey are processed by the EXCEL program and presented graphically. The analysis shows that most of the children surveyed know the terminology, but they do not associate it with its Bulgarian meaning. For the etiquette in judo, the knowledge of the children is limited to the basic rules and the meaning and the order of observance are not known.
