Abstract
Recently, with the development of the computer and network communication technology, Distributed Numerical Control (DNC) network communication technology, which is the most important part of Manufacturing Execution System (MES), has developed rapidly. As the basis of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), integration of CAD/CAM system and DNC network improved the productivity and management level. Aiming at the status of present Numerical Control (NC) or Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment of the manufacturing industry, several typical DNC communication schemes for workshops were proposed. Supported by computer and CAD/CAM integration technology, a Personal Computer (PC)-based integrated environment of CAD/CAM/DNC of the workshop was established. Under the basis of two-Dimensional (2D) or three-Dimensional (3D) model, the CAD/CAM/DNC integration of the design of mechanical parts and NC machining was realized. Finally, an application on integration of CAD/CAM/DNC was taken as an example to illustrate the method and process. Integrating DNC communication network with CAD/CAM system has realized the incorporation of NC or CNC equipment and Ethernet, as well as the integration of design and manufacturing, makes NC equipment become a part of the Intranet. Thus it is very significant to product design, production and management of NC machine tools, it solves not only the problems of CAD modelling, NC programming and DNC communication, but also workshop's production monitoring and information exchange.
