Abstract

In order to explore the specific impact of industrial structure upgrading on high-quality economic development in Guangdong and Guangxi, this paper establishes an evaluation index system of high-quality economic development in Guangdong and Guangxi, and uses entropy weight method to measure the index of high-quality economic development in Guangdong and Guangxi. On this basis, 2000-2018 municipal panel data were used to analyze the upgrading of industrial structure into two dimensions: rationalization of industrial structure and upgrading of industrial structure. GMM dynamic panel model was used to test the impact of industrial structure upgrading on high-quality economic development and its action mechanism. The results show that the regression coefficients of the rationalization of industrial structure as a negative indicator for the high-quality economic development are -0.247, -0.218, -0.162 and -0.135 respectively, indicating that the rationalization of industrial structure can promote the high-quality economic development. The regression coefficients of the advanced industrial structure as a positive indicator on the high-quality economic development are -0.212, -0.152, -0.098 and -0.109 respectively, indicating that the advanced industrial structure has an inhibitory effect on the high-quality economic development. On the whole, industrial upgrading can significantly promote the high-quality economic development of Guangdong, and Guangxi.
