Abstract

The effect of ultrasonic friction reduction (UFR) has been found for a few decades and been applied in a series of fields, like mechanical design and manufacturing. Meanwhile it has also been successfully involved in pneumatic cylinders of pneumatic field. This research proposed an equivalent method for the seal-cylinder couple to be unfolded into a rubber bar-steel plate friction couple, in order to help study the frictional condition between pneumatic cylinder friction couple. A friction measurement system was established aiming at the equivalent friction couple and the influence of sealing ring diameter, normal force and input voltage of ultrasonic vibrator on friction reduction effect were discussed.
