Abstract

Polysilanes are polymers with unique luminescent properties, which will be enhanced by functional side group modifications. In this paper, amphiphilic functional polysilane is synthesized by Si-H addition reaction between Si-H and alkene bonds. Polymethylsilane is selected as matrix which is full of reactive Si-H groups and azobisisobutyronitrile is used as the initiator. The product shows good luminescence (emission band between 400-650 nm), good solubility (soluble in various solvents such as toluene, tetrahydrofuran, n-hexane, dimethyl sulfoxide, alcohol and water) and environmental friendliness, which can be applied to flexible luminescent devices and solvent-based fluorescence detection in the future.
