Abstract

With the further development of Unmanned Surface Vehicle(USV) and the extension of application scenarios, information security has gradually become one of the important elements in the research of key technologies for USV. To improve the security of USV navigation, this paper proposes a hybrid algorithm that combines the Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm and the Message-Digest Algorithm version 5 (MD5) for the encryption of control commands between USV and shore. The simulation results show that this algorithm is faster than the single DES algorithm, and the encryption time does not increase with the increase of encrypted characters, which can guarantee the security of the ship-to-shore control command transmission. Finally, it is verified through real ship experiments that the proposed method can be applied to the encryption of inter-shore control commands of USV, and can effectively ensure the security, reliability, and real-time of inter-shore control command transmission, which provides an engineering application method for the information security of autonomous navigation of USV.
