Abstract

The electromagnetic mass of the electron remains yet to be an open question in physics. The classical model of the electron consists of a spherically symmetric distribution of electric charge.Because the relativistic electromagnetic energy-speed relation for spherical symmetric charge distribution is completely different from the relativistic(mechanical)mass-speed relation, the total relativistic energy of the electron in motion is not only a function of its speed, but also a function of the ratio of its electromagnetic mass to the known rest mass of the electron. In this paper, basing on the above mentioned knowledge,it was suggested that Bertozzis experiment should be used to research for electromagnetic mass of the electron, and the method was applied tentatively.
