Abstract

This paper examines the process of colleague trust's effect on employees' voice behavior, and boundary conditions, based on 428 employees data. Results show that, firstly, colleague trust positively affects employees' prohibitive and promotive voice behavior indifferently; secondly, workplace friendship has a positive effect on prohibitive and promotive voice behavior, especially the later one; thirdly, workplace friendship mediates the relationship between colleague trust and voice behavior, and the mediation effect is larger for promotive voice behavior; in the end, gender moderates the later radius of the path of colleague trust-workplace friendship-promotive voice behavior.
