Abstract

This study mainly focuses on performance and visual fatigue difference of visual search process with the different designs of OLED mobile phones screens under the situation of normal using. The research simulated light conditions of office environment, and 20 subjects aged 18–40 years old were randomly selected to explore the differences of visual search tasks performance, flicker fusion frequency, visual fatigue subjective perception and EEG under different conditions. The experiments is designed within the subjects and mobile phone screen with independent Blu-ray processing models, dependent variables for tasks completion performance and subjective perception of visual fatigue and comfort. The test results show that, under the confidence level of 95%, the performance of the search tasks in the non-eye mode mobile phone screen condition is superior to that under the eye protection mode. The decrease amplitude of the critical fusion frequency under the condition of the eye-protection mode phone screen was significantly smaller than that of the non-eye-protection mode. There was no apparent fatigue in the completed search tasks under the condition of the eye-protection mode phone screen, but there was apparent fatigue in that of non-eye-protection mode. EEG data showed that there was no difference in search attention and mood index between two different modes of mobile phone. The screen color displayed in the eye protection mode phone screen is better than that of the non-eye mode. On subjective fatigue, there was no significant difference in subjective visual fatigue experience after the same visual search tasks performed under two different cell phone screen conditions. In summary, the color display is better under the screen condition of the eye protection mode, and the fatigue phenomenon is not easy to appear. This research provides data support for the design of smart phone screen.
