Abstract In response to the slagging phenomenon in coal-fired boilers, the combustion characteristics of pulverized coal and the effect of deflected secondary air on slagging in a 350MW Corner-tangentially-fired boiler are numerically investigated by the commercial software. The research results indicate that when the deflection secondary air (CFS air) volume increases, the tangential diameter will significantly increase, and the degree of influence is higher than the angle, which has a significant impact on wall temperature and smoke wall brushing. Only adjusting the CFS wind angle or wind volume has a relatively small impact on particle wall brushing; When CFS wind is superimposed with large Angle and high air volume, the temperature and the degree of smoke brushing near the water wall will be significantly increased, and the risk of slag formation on the water wall will be magnified.
