Abstract
With the development of Internet technology, online popularity politics is born. Especially in the national and regional political elections, online politics is mainly presented in the form of online politicians. Online popularity is the most prominent feature of politicians. How did online popularity politics come into being? Based on the semiotic theory, this paper points out that the effective interaction and operation among the media, speech acts and audience objects constitute the mechanism for the formation of online celebrity politics in the Internet era. Specifically, politicians’ exaggerated body behavior, novel language and rich expressions are regarded as personalized expressions with labels. With the help of the Internet media, politicians’ images are constantly constructed and stereotyped in personalized symbolic expressions through the two paths of political election disenchantment and personal identity labeling. Politicians take this opportunity to win the support rate and attention of the public and finally get votes.
