Abstract

This paper studies the density of demodulation reference signals (DRS) for dual-layer beamforming. Both the channel estimation performance and DRS overhead were considered by translating both effects into Signal Interference Noise Ratio (SINR), and then the total effective SINR was calculated. By comparing the total effective SINR of different DRS density, it is proposed that 12 DRS in a resource block gives about balanced performance at dual-layer beamforming.
