Abstract

ABSTRACT The agility of technology-based enterprises in the process of cross-border collaboration is important for them to achieve high-quality cross-border cooperation behaviours, yet scholars have not paid much attention to cross-border collaboration agility at present. In this paper, we propose a model of cross-border collaboration agility enhancement path for technology-based enterprises, obtain 312 technology-based enterprises’ observation data in China by questionnaire survey method, and test the theoretical model of the drivers of cross-border collaboration agility for technology-based enterprises by structural equation modelling. The study validates the significant contribution of the knowledge base and internal capabilities within technology-based enterprises to enhance cross-border collaboration agility. It further reveals that the knowledge base can augment cross-border collaboration agility through a chain mediating effect involving big data capability, learning capability, and absorptive capability. Additionally, big data capability positively influences cross-border collaboration agility through a chain mediating effect encompassing learning capability, technology innovation capability, and absorptive capability. The findings are a useful addition to the existing field of research on technology-based enterprises and agility acquisition mechanisms, and have guiding implications for improving cross-border collaboration performance.
