Abstract

By adding a torque assist mechanism made up of an assist clutch and automated control unit in a traditional automatic mechanical transmission (AMT), it is changed to prevent torque interruption during shifting. The configuration and working principle of AMT with torque assist were analyzed. The dynamics equations of the system and the control strategy for the gear shifting were established. Based on the target vehicle, the simulation mode was set up with Matlab /Simulink software. The mode was analyzed by the process from gear two to gear three. The results showed that AMT with torque assist provided torque during gear shifting, prevented interruption of the force and improved the shift quality.
