Abstract

The creation of online open courses at higher education institutions, as a newly developing higher education teaching mode, has significant potential for development and broad application prospects due to the rapid development and widespread application of information technology. Online open courses have the potential to boost higher education's reputation and standard while also encouraging resource sharing and globalisation of the sector. Yet, there are still certain issues and difficulties with the design and execution of online open courses in higher education institutions, such as a lack of technical assistance and other issues. To address these issues and difficulties, it is essential to boost teaching design and implementation, resource development, platform development, teaching quality monitoring, and course improvement. This will help to further enhance the teaching quality and efficacy of online open courses. The promotion of these initiatives will aid in the digital transformation and innovative development of higher education institutions, enhance the comprehensive quality and efficacy of student learning, and promote the long-term sustainability of higher education as well as the growth of innovation and entrepreneurship.
