Research on the condition and influential factors of clinical practical competence for students with master of nursing specialist

Abstract

Objective To explore the condition and influential factors of clinical practical competence for students with master of nursing specialist. Methods Using the convenience sampling method, the clinical practical competence for students with master of nursing specialist and the influencing factors were analyzed by using the self-designed questionnaire of basic information of nursing postgraduates and the clinical ability evaluation scale of nursing postgraduates designed by Tang Xiaolu, etc. Results The total score of clinical practical competence for students with master of nursing specialist was (83.97±11.20) points.The scores of the five dimensions of the first-level index were respectively: theoretical knowledge level scores (22.30±2.61) points, nursing practice ability (20.56±2.83)points, the professional ethics (20.85±1.38)points, scientific research ability(11.62±2.40) points and management teaching ability(9.18±2.10) points.Among them, the highest professional ethics score was excellent, the total score of clinical practice ability, theoretical knowledge level and nursing practice ability were good, self-rating of scientific research ability was medium.There were statistically significant differences in clinical practice ability scores among grades, students and clinical practice time (P<0.05). The score of high grade was higher than that of low grade.Nurse student's score was higher than undergraduates'.The longer clinical practical length, the higher score of clinical practical competence.Logistic regression analysis showed that grade, student source and length of clinical practice were the influencing factors of the total score of MNS clinical practical competence(P<0.05) . Conclusions The MNS clinical practical competence should be improved and corresponding countermeasure should be taken based on some influential factors such as different grade, student source and length of clinical practice.
