Abstract

The electrical power system is developing rapidly in the direction of intelligence, and new intelligent services are emerging continually, which put forward new requirements to the supporting communication system. As an important part of electrical communication system, wireless communication networks is developing towards 5th Generation Wireless Systems (5G). It is the key point for the future electrical system planning and construction whether 5G technologies are suitable for the electrical wireless communication services. This paper studies the compatibility between electrical wireless communication services and 5G technologies. Firstly, the communication requirements of the typical electrical wireless communication services is analyzed. Then an evaluation model for fitness degree between electrical services and wireless network technologies is proposed. Based on the proposed method, the fitness degree between typical electrical wireless communication services and 5G technology solutions are evaluated. The results show that the 5G network technologies with different solutions can satisfy the requirements in transmission speed, delay, reliability and connection density, which have the higher compatibility than existing solutions.
