Abstract

Digital informatics is the key to efficiency in the construction industry. BIM technology is a significant development in the architecture, engineering and construction industry, providing a technology and process that brings traditional design and construction practices into the digital age. This paper introduces the functions and roles of BIM technology in construction engineering. It describes the advantages of BIM technology in construction engineering in terms of improving the efficiency of collaborative work, transferring shared gifts in a big way, speeding up the preparation of production and procurement plans, and improving the efficiency of project decision-making. An information management model based on computer BIM technology in construction engineering is constructed. Based on the entropy weighting method, this paper selects aspects such as operation and maintenance management, operation and maintenance safety, operation and maintenance technology, operation and maintenance personnel organisation and operation and maintenance application profile. It assigns weights to various indicators in construction engineering to improve the scientific nature of the weight setting. Through 10 experts to determine the application of computer-based BIM technology in construction engineering, the results indicated that among the primary indicators, O&M management has the most prominent weight. Among the secondary indicators, fire emergency management has the first ranked weight. The application of computer-based BIM technology in construction engineering is discussed in two aspects, namely the realisation of the application in site analysis through the simulation and positioning function of BIM technology and the optimisation of construction costs by using the visualisation model of BIM technology, which also provides some new ideas for the application of computer-based BIM technology in construction engineering.
