Abstract

To enable students to establish the basic concept of engineering applications, this paper presents the experimental content simulating engineering application systems in the course of Power Electronics Experiment. Through the realization of each step of the experiment, students can complete the system level experiment closed to the engineering application. Taking the dc-motor speed control system as an example, this paper allows students to realize a simple open-loop speed control system, and answer questions related to practical engineering applications. Then, students apply the double-closed-loop speed control system simulating the engineering application to do the experiment, and answer questions again. By comparing the speed control performance of the motor, students can master how to control the dc-motor accurately and stably. By comparing the correct rate of questions, it can be seen that the experiment simulating engineering application systems can obtain a higher correct rate of answering questions. The proposed teaching method makes students understand how to realize a stable and reliable engineering system, and establish a project concept of the power electronic application. Through the questionnaire survey of students, it can be obtained that the experiment simulating engineering application systems improves the experimental effect on understanding the composition and the working principle of the power electronic application systems.
