Abstract

This paper proposes design of compact current sensor based on fluxgate technique, which can measure current of dc-, low frequency and high frequency ac. Instead of the traditional magnetic toroid core structure, an improved integrated magnetic structure is utilized to reduce current sensor size. The excitation coil and compensation coil are inserted into an integrated magnetic component. In addition, the closed loop configuration is used, in order to achieve high accuracy, low thermal drift and reduce the measurement error. Finally, a comparison between open-loop and closed-loop experimental results is presented to validate the performance of designed current sensor.
