Abstract
The coherence of discourse is a core issue in discourse analysis. Relevance and discourse markers, as important means of achieving discourse coherence, are of great significance for understanding the meaning and structure of discourse. In recent years, scholars both domestically and internationally have achieved fruitful results in the study of associative devices and discourse markers, but there are still many issues worth further exploration. This article aims to explore the use of associative devices and discourse markers in English discourse and their roles in discourse construction, in order to provide theoretical references for the field of English teaching and research.
