Abstract

GIS has become one of important information techniques now and found wide application in petroleum industry for its advantages, such as effective data integration, fast space location search, complex query function, unique geographical space analysis ability and powerful and intuitive graphical visualization, etc, but petroleum exploration and development data has specialty characteristics of large space-time span, complex types and structures, multiple sources and large data volume, etc, most applications of GIS in petroleum exploration and development field are limited to query, location and visualization, etc, and meanwhile, there are also some problems in the applications of this field. Aimed at the current problems of GIS in domestic oilfield companies, this paper puts forward a solution, namely establishing an open spatial data model in petroleum exploration and development field, on this basis, establish a public GIS information platform by SOA technology, thereby realizing not only normative description, display and information sharing of complex entities in this field but also effective integration of heterogeneous platforms.
