Abstract

Micro Electrical Discharge Machining (MEDM) is a non-contact processing method. Due to the improper selection of discharge parameters, the low processing efficiency and serious electrode loss are common problems in the processing of MEDM for SiCp/Al micro-hole. In this paper, the effects of peak current, pulse width and pulse frequency on processing efficiency and electrode loss are studied through experimental research. By optimizing the discharge parameters, the processing efficiency is improved and the electrode loss is reduced. The influence of different discharge parameters on the micro-hole morphology is analyzed by observing the micro-hole cross section.
