Abstract

AbstractNowadays, digital media has wide applications through technology and hardware that has greatly changed its professional practice and teaching in design subjects. Concepts and methodology in this area have shifted, which are influencing and interacting the design field with continuous development, therefore, arising the phenomenon of multi-directional combination in design. This change in the design field also affects on the current design education system. The barriers among subjects became indistinct whilst the design education system tends to be integrated among different subjects and professionals. Especially in digital media, this stimulates and encourages practice broadening its design process. The development of technology and design always closely associates itself with each other that the more advanced use of technology, the more sophisticated the design could be presented. Digital media design is one of the leading subjects, which benefits in technology advancement exposure. This influence of digital media design also arose the change of production relations and productive forces in design. No matter what the project is about, whether it’s digital media design or other practical application of digital media, there are always new attempts for both designers and design educators. The attempts demonstrated in design process that are aiming to fasten communication speed broadens the application, thus the key message reaches out more effectively and more conveniently to its audience. This article is based on teaching experiences around digital media design, and combines the practical and teaching methods of architectural design, industrial design and experience design. It has been developed and summarized from the perspective of design project analysis, design-thinking expansion, design method research, design field combination and design tool practices.
