Abstract

A new topology structure for permanent magnet and electrical excited of shunt excitation scheme is proposed based on original electric exciting claw-pole machine. Firstly, the no-load magnetic field and output characteristics in power generation and electric state are calculated respectively for claw-pole machine by 3-D finite element method (FEM). And saturation of magnetic circuit under different exciting current is calculated. On this basis, the influence of magnetic circuit saturation on electromagnetic torque and torque ripple is analyzed and considered. Therefore, to ensure the fastest and most stable start for vehicle, maximized exciting current is obtained under the condition of unsaturated magnetic density. Finally, a hybrid exciting claw-pole machine with rated power of 1.5kW is designed and manufactured.
