Abstract

Microgrid is becoming more and more important in energy using area, which has better consumption capacity of renewable energy and obtains better economic benefits. Solar energy makes the maximum proportion of energy on the earth and the photovoltaic system is an important part of the microgrid. Therefore, making full use of solar energy means much for the microgrid. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller in the Photovoltaic system is the key of solar energy using. Nowadays, digital simulation and real-time simulation can be taken use of carrying out photovoltaic power system research. However, accuracy of digital simulation is not convincing, so real-time simulation is applied to research on Photovoltaic system, which has the characteristic of accuracy together with rapidity. In this paper, theory of Photovoltaic system is analyzed including characteristics of photovoltaic cell and MPPT strategy. A real-time simulation platform RT-LAB is introduced in details, which concludes hardware, software and the simulation process of RT-LAB. Molding and testing of photovoltaic system on RT-LAB is carried out to researching on the efficiency of real-time simulation about solar energy using. The testing results show that the usage of RT-LAB can provide more veritable simulation results, and the MPPT strategy is reliable.
