Abstract

Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effects of metal nanoparticles can be used to enhance the photo-thermal properties of nanofluid. The feasibility is verified experimentally in this paper. TiO2/Ag composite nanoparticles are synthesized by photo- chemical impregnation method. Then, TiO2/Ag plasmonic nanofluid is prepared by suspending these nanoparticles in base fluid followed by sufficient sonication. The photo-thermal properties of such nanofluid are studied experimentally as well as the effect of concentration. The results show that TiO2/Ag plasmonic nanofluid exhibits better photo-thermal performance than pure water.
