Abstract

Based on analysis of terahertz signals, it focused on the design of terahertz emission subsystem and then established a schematic of terahertz communication system. Because Signal-to-Noise ratio and dynamic range of terahertz communication system depend on the performance of terahertz emitter, in order to improve the stability of terahertz emitter and increase lower output power, it selected terahertz emitter based on passively mode-locked femtosecond fiber laser as the research object. And then it studied the impact that fast saturable absorber on laser stability, analyzed fast saturable absorber stable transmission intervals. It also took other technologies to ensure the performance of the system, such as taking erbium-doped optical fiber as gain medium, high-reliability laser diode as pump laser and adopting well-designed resonant cavity to improve resource's stability. To improve terahertz emitters' output power, it compared between increasing pump power and device array integration. It established the theory foundation for high output power, small size and stable terahertz communication system.
