Abstract

In order to solve the difficulty in obtaining non-circular gear tooth profile, basing on the theory that manufacture non-circular gear with slotting cutter in generation method to develop the linkage mathematical model of slotting non-circular gear, and then the motion data of every axis in gear shaping was got on the basis of linkage model and the virtual slotting has been carried on, which can generate a series of discrete points when gear billet and slotting cutter made Boolean difference. The tooth profile generated in virtual slotting include all the characteristic data points of non-circular gear tooth profile, which can be obtained and outputted through developing the plug-in of obtaining points coordinates on entity. The obtaining of tooth profile points coordinates lay a good foundation for the accurate modeling of non-circular gear, wire-electrode cutting, kinematics and mechanics analysis and tooth profile error evaluation.
